Can you support us in our vision to achieve excellence in healthcare for all?
The Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is a leading provider of mental health care in New South Wales, and we are seeking a dynamic Clinical Nurse Educator to join our team. This is a newly established ward-based role within our clinical education team with significant scope to make an impact within the mental health nursing service.
The MAU at Professor Marie Bashir Centre (PMBC) is a fast-paced unit which combines a short stay unit and mental health triage area. Our MAU supports walk-in’s and community presentations from various sources, including referrals from a range of sources, including community mental health teams, NSW Ambulance and NSW Police. As our unit is open to the public and often serves as the first point of contact for individuals seeking mental health support, we encounter and manage a diverse range of mental health presentations and conditions.
The SSU at PMBC is an 11-bed acute, mixed gender in-patient unit that cares for consumers aged 17 to 65 years. The SSU aims to provide person-centred care, treatment and stabilisation for consumers requiring brief admissions, with the goal of supporting ongoing recovery in the community through appropriate onward referrals.
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic nursing leader who thrives in a busy, dynamic environment for this newly established role. You will be committed to developing confident, capable and compassionate clinicians. In this rewarding role, you will empower our nursing team to deliver safe, recovery-oriented, trauma-informed and person-centred care.
If this sounds like you, and you are committed to evidence-based education and receptive to different learning styles, apply today!
You will play an important role in:
- Identifying clinical learning needs and developing targeted education and training programs.
- Facilitating orientation, in-service education, clinical skills development and ongoing professional learning.
- Supporting the development of clinical competence, evidence-based practice and safe, high-quality care.
- Collaborating with CNEs and clinical nurse consultants to deliver education initiatives that address service-wide priorities.
- Supporting new graduates, early-career nurses and experienced clinicians in their ongoing professional development.
- Promoting reflective practice, clinical excellence and a culture of continuous improvement.
- Contributing to the evaluation and ongoing improvement of education programs across SLHD Mental Health Services.
